I worked as a game designer for a year in Acess! Studio. The studio is owned by Bilibili, a popular Chinese video-sharing website, known for its strong focus on animation, comics, and games (ACG) content.
I was assigned to the development team of Artery Gear: Fusion, a F2P mobile turn-based RPG game developed with Unity developed by a team of 100 people.
Role Summary
Game Design
Design Data Assistant:
When I started, I was tasked with translating and structuring the creative designs of senior designers into Excel spreadsheets, which will be loaded into our game during each update. I quickly learned the production cycle for limited-time events, from ideation and planning phase to testing and quality assurance stage.
I also automated part of the data entry process using Excel VBA and Python, leaving me more time to take on other tasks.
Game Features Design:
Designed event-related features in collaboration with artists and programmers. Created and maintained system flowcharts, authored design documents for owned game features.
Economy Design:
I was also involved in the data analysis process contributed to the development of new reward mechanisms, aimed to increase participation rates and time during limited-time events.
Coordination:
Led meetings for new features, ensuring cohesive collaboration among artists, programmers, and QAs to align with project objectives and timelines.
Task Management:
Wrote tickets for programmer, artists, writers, and other designers on tasks related to limited-time events. Established Gantt charts and actively tracked task schedules to ensure all content is adequately tested and delivered promptly.
